Purple Cone Flower
The mechanism of effects and pharmaco-kinetic effects of Echinacea have still not been investigated to any great extent. The drug contains four main groups of substances, which stimulate the immune system. It is primarily acids of 3 and 4-dihydroxycinnjamic and their conjugates, alkamides, glycol-proteins and polysaccharides. Ciborium acid most likely plays a significant role in the immune-stimulating processes. Studies have shown that Echinacea extracts stimulate the production of gluco-corticoids, the fagocytate activity and the number of white blood cells significantly increases. Echinacea extracts have antiviral effects, act as interferon, although it seems that they do not induce its formation.
Vitamins A, E and C, essential fatty omega acids, organic acids, tannins and others are among the most important substances contained in sea buckthorn flowers. The flowers have significant bio-stimulating effects, thanks to which sea buckthorn supports the organisms’ immune system.
